I have the pleasure and honour to extend to you a warm invitation for the 2nd annual meeting of WGEI members and observers. It is with even greater pleasure that, Mr. Per-Kristian Foss, the Auditor General of SAI Norway, accepted to host this year’s annual meeting in Oslo, Norway from 21st – 23rd September 2015.

This meeting gives us yet another opportunity to evaluate the performance of WGEI for the second time since its inception in Beijing, China in 2013. The meeting also provides an opportunity for practitioners in the field of extractive industry to share their challenging experiences. This industry continues to poise significant challenges for SAIs and practitioners alike because of its potential to provide enhancing life changing opportunities for citizens. This change, however, can only be positive if the revenues generated from extractive industries is channeled to good use and prudently managed under the close and watchful eyes of SAIs. The reverse is equally true i.e. “a resource curse”, if the generated resources are not well managed. SAIs have a crucial role to play in the intricate process.

Come over to Oslo, so that, together we can chart a way forward in order for SAIs to make their long awaited contribution to the success of the Industry for the betterment of citizens’ welfare the world over.
See you in Oslo, September, 2015
